During Super Bowl LVI, four-time grammy nominee and country star Mickey Guyton, best known for her hit ‘Black Like Me,’ performed the national anthem with a choir of backup singers… And one of those singers was our own Brandon Hudson.
Brandon always dreamed of performing at a Super Bowl, but thought it would be as a dancer. Little did he know when he submitted a self-tape singing the national anthem a capella that he’d be chosen for Mickey’s choir!
There are no words to express how exciting it was to see Brandon on TV during that performance. When we asked Brandon what it was like, he could only say he’s still processing the whole experience. It was that profound!
What we do know is Brandon never ceases to amaze us. We met him shortly after he arrived in New York City to pursue his dream to dance on Broadway. And before we knew it, he booked Hamilton! Brandon’s credits are enviable. He’s accomplished so many goals and continues to soar in his career whether dancing, singing, acting, creating choreography, or directing short films.
And in true Brandon form, he was sure to thank Mickey Guyton for the opportunity...
‘Today is what dreams are made of. all eyes on God for this one. @mickeyguyton, you are a true super star. kindness personified. and I am beyond grateful that you have allowed us to share this moment with you … and THANK YOU for celebrating diversity. You are a force, and it’s been an honor.’
