CRASHING AUDITIONS GD: What about "crashing" auditions? JS: I've done it. Friends have done it. GD: How does it happen? JS: You hear about the call, take your chances, and show up.
R: You hear about them in class, too. Dancers talk about auditions. Answers4dancers, the DanceBlast, and Backstage announce them. JS: You listen and ask questions. "Oh, okay, I was going to go to that. Where is it, at Alley Cat? OK, great. R: Everyone crashes auditions. For some auditions, only a certain agency gets the call. So if you're from another agency, you have to go or miss out entirely. JS: A friend of mine who didn't have an agent, drove all the way from San Diego for the "Wild Wild West" video. At the door they told her she wasn't on the agency's list. She, and plenty of others, were shot down at the door. GD: That's tough. R: All you can do is turn around and leave. JS: It's a chance you take. You go home knowing you tried.
