Must attend both the dance and singer call; Dindon – Anne’s father; right-wing radical politician; pompous; quirky; must sing, move well, and be a fine comedian; Marie Dindon – Anne’s mother; 48-52, shy, retiring, sexually repressed and sex starved; good singer and actress who moves well; must look great in a leotard for the finale; Jacqueline – mature, female friend of Georges and Albin; owns a chic restaurant; attractive, charming; very theatrical. Will also double as a townsperson; Renaud – mature, male friend of Georges and Albin; owns a small cafe. Will also double as a townsperson; Francis – male stage manager in Georges’ club; strong actor who moves well; CAGELLES: ethnically diverse men to play drag queens. All are required to be triple threat performers. Outstanding dancers in musical theatre style, jazz, ballet and tap. Acrobatics, aerial skills and pointe work are all a plus but not required by all men; Hanna - German, tall, imposing, strong, good actor. German accent. Casting ensemble singers & dancers for "High Society." Rehearsal begins Aug. 18; runs Sept. 8-Oct. 25 in Philadelphia, PA. Choreo: Mary Jane Houdina. Seeking Tracy Lord : Female, 25-35, All Ethnicities: sophisticated and a beautiful young woman who has the undeniable ability to carry a show - made popular in the film played by Grace Kelly. Described as a "Bryn Mawr girl". Must also dance well. Strong Mezzo-Soprano mix; Dexter Haven : Male, 35-40, All Ethnicities: a handsome man between 5'11"-6'1" made popular in the film by Bing Crosby. Classical bari-tenor to a solid high G; Ensemble : Males & Females, 18+, All Ethnicities: strong classical voices who make up a chorus of maids and butlers. Chorus Rules are in effect. Bring pix & resumes, stapled together. Singers: prepare 16-32 bars of a song a la Cole Porter. An accompanist will be provided. Singers may be asked to dance. Seeking Equity actor/singers/dancers/movers for various principal roles. CURRENTLY SEEKING: TONY: 18 & up to play late teens - 20s. Young man, genuine but troubled, trying to find a way out of the violent but tight-knit gang system he grew up in. He is the former leader of the Jets, but wants a different future for himself. Tony finds that future (he thinks) when he meets Maria, his first love. The ties that bind him to his past create an impossible conflict for him, and he ultimately meets an untimely end. Strong actor with a warm baritone (or dark tenor) and a huge top. Must be able to solidly sing a high B flat. Ideally will have strong dance skill. All ethnicities/races considered. RANGE: Bb2 - Bb4; MARIA: 18 & up to play late teens. Bernardo's sister. Innocent, but with an uncommon grace and maturity beyond her years. She falls in love with Tony and finds herself at the center of the violent conflict between the two gangs. Excellent soprano to a high C. Strong actress. Moderate dancer. RANGE: Bb3 – C6; RIFF: 18 & up to play late teens - 20s. Leader of the Jets. Tony's best friend. Charismatic, confident, and likeable – but underneath it all there is a strong streak of dominance. He is never afraid of a fight, and seeks to establish the Jets as the kings of the neighborhood. Strong bari-tenor and strong dancer. All ethnicities/races considered. RANGE: Bb2 – G4; ANITA: Early 20s - early 30s. Bernardo's Girlfriend. Sexy, vivacious, & full of life, she has a sharp wit and a huge heart. She dispenses "older sister" advice to Maria and tries to shield her from the dangers of the gangs. Must be an excellent dancer and an actor with great depth. Strong belt to C#. RANGE: F3 - D5; BERNARDO: Early 20s - early 30s. Leader of the Sharks. Maria's brother and Anita's boyfriend. Proud, strong, and handsome with a short fuse. Puerto Rican, masculine; under enormous pressure to defend his rights and place as a new American. Must be a strong dancer and actor. RANGE: Bb2 – Eb4; CHINO: 18 & up to play late teens. An angry and, at times, naive Shark. When his father-figure, Bernardo, is killed, he turns murderous and vengeful. As the intended husband of Maria, his actions propel the play to its tragic end. Featured acting role – some singing and dancing. Baritone. Please prepare a brief selection of a standard musical theater song from the 40’s, 50’s, or 60’s that is in the style of the show.
