Anxious About The Big Move?  It’s a lot to deal with.

CAN'T DECIDE IF L.A. IS THE PLACE FOR ME!

Dear Grover,

I am 20 years old, and I have been dancing my whole life. I really want to be a professional dancer. I live in Chicago, and I know that it is a major city, but not exactly "the place to be". I am planning on moving at the end of summer. I am confused as to where the place to be is. Some say that New York is the place to go, but then others say L.A. is the place to go. Which is better for someone who has many years of serious training, and now is looking to make this a career? I am mostly interested in the commercial pop tour and video side of it. I need help with this decision.

Dear Corrin,

You sound like you already know where you should be and are looking for outside help to get you out of the windy city...? Frankly, something is missing from your message. I'm not hearing any enthusiasm about why your life won't be complete until you start working professionally.  How much do you really want this?

Leaving the comfort and safety of home, family, and friends may be challenging you.  Indecision and turmoil is often a convenient way to avoid making any move at all.  Debating the pros and cons of NY and LA for too long could prevent you from EXPERIENCING either city!

Instead of stalling and agonizing over it, you‘re young enough to give yourself a year or six months in either city and give it your best shot. The only thing thing you’ve got to lose is indecision and turmoil.  What do you really want, Corrin?

Grover D.
